South Broad Coffee

Coffee on the train,

Huddled on the train full of subtracted brains, staring into each other’s phones as if there was an invisible drone hovering,

Trying to keep your shoulders from smothering,

A decade full of hunch backs and spinal injuries for the health care industry to succeed,

I head all the way back to the last cart,

The lights were flickering and it smelled like something was burning,

I could exactly see what was going on but I noticed a woman’s face in the distance,

She looks to be in some kind of trouble,

So I began to yell out, hello Miss are you okay !?

Step my step walking slowly and carefully,

I sit my coffee down on the moving train not expecting it to sit up straight,

But I needed to reach for my cell phone,

As I get closer I see a naked woman hanging from the ceiling by chains,

Her face looks exhausted and sweaty like she had been here all day,

I begin to smack her face trying to awaken her when all of a sudden the train comes to a stop,

Miss! Miss!

I yell out help a few times but no one came,

Everyone was waking back and forth from other carts not looking up not once,

All beats and iPhone head phones blasted their brains into a million pierces,

Right then I hear footsteps I couldn’t see,

The flickering had stopped and there was someone dressed in all navy blue standing at the end of the cart,

Looks to be the train conductor,

He pulls out a bull whip from behind him and whips it out in a quick snap,

My eyes grew big and my hearing leaves my body,

A silent ring sits in my ear,

I look back and see the woman had awaken and is now begging for more,

I drop to the floor and hold my hand over my ears trying to stop the ringing,

The train stars to move faster and faster now skipping stops,

Sparks fly away at the tracks from moving too fast,

And then,

It stops in a sudden,

Me and the conductor flies to the rear of the train in slow motion,

Coffee, whips and screams could the air,

I wonder where this train and her pain had left off...
